» Cutting Oils
I have a 12-R hand ratchet and wish to cut threads on 1" black pipe. The specified thread cutting oil is not readily available. Is there a suitable replacement that would work well enough in a pinch? Diesel - probably too thin? Motor Oil - probably too thick? Something common that I could pick up at the hardware store? Looks like the main ingredient in the Ridgid brand is mineral oil... so generic mineral oil should work almost as well, right? Thank-you!typically the cutting oil contains sulfur. they also make an aerosol spray can oil. since your hand threading and not doing fast production work, i believe any decent lubricating oil will do. in fact i have an oil less threader #1210 1/2''-1'' that uses a cooling flui...... - 2009-07-03
» What can I plant in my garden in winter? In upstate NY?
I live near Syracuese, and I want to start a garden, what should I start growing? The tempature today was 22 degrees. Should I just start growing things in jars? Will they die, if I plant them in jars inside the house? I kinda want something to plant in my house as well, but nothing toxic as I'm having a baby and I have cats. (Even though the cats won't be able to reach them.)now is when you prepare the soil, start a compost pile, peruse seed/garden catalogs, read gardening books and plan on what you want to plant. You could still plant garlic as long as your soil isn't frozen, you could also plant spring bulbs like daffodils, tulips, crocuses, etc.. There are no other things that can be planted now and survive the win...... - 2009-07-03

My husband and I were wondering how many people in northern NJ would go to a cosplay cafe/anime&manga store? There don't really seem to be any, at least in the northern area, other than going to NYC.I'd love to go to a cosplay cafe anywhere! Last I heard, there was only one in the L.A. area but that's a bit of a hike for the people on the east coast. If you were to open one, you'd get my business. ;3i would. » huh...weird questions here
so... I'm playing with my new husband (Rebel XT) and please.. give me some tips and tricks: 1. what do you do with the lens cap?? With my previous cam this was easy cos it was easily attached to the camera strap... and now, I'm afraid I'll loose it someday 2. what about sharpness? I heard that some people set the image sharnes at +2 because on "normal" the picture is not really sharp. Is that true? And Admins and Mods... I hope you don't mind me bumping this thread often with stupid questions like this :) 3. what resolution do you usually shoot at? the best one? where the file is 3.3 MB large? I have 1 gb card and I'm thinking about capacity... 4. have you ever had problems with CF cards? I own one... one 1gb card... and I'm wondering...... - 2009-07-03
» Wallet Die Cutters
It seems like my lab keeps raising the price of there wallets; I am looking into possibly ordering a wallet diecutter. Does anyone have one that they like or a place they would recommend getting it from? How much do you think you would be using it? I don't know how much they cost, but a regular paper cutter is pretty cheap. It would only take a minute to cut up a page of wallet prints...but if you have a lot of them to do, I would think that the die cutter would be great to use.well, I want them to have rounded corners Every Senior I have averages around 4 or 5 sets of 24 wallets, so it won't take long to pay for itself. I would save 5.50 for each set of 24. Plus it will help me to get the cheaper prices for the 4x6s cause I need so many...... - 2009-07-03

Hello, I'm soon going to try and create an online store and start to promote myself. I am currently trying to find a place that can make some good prints. I will be looking locally, but I think there may be some online stores that would work quite well and may also be cheaper than going to a local print shop. Does anyone have any suggestion on an online print shop?I Do some work with www.fullcolor.com They are a pro lab and have everything online. They work with beginner and offer great products and pricing. If you sign up use code '50off' and they will give you 50% off your first order for trying them out. Good luck!Where are you located? We probably won't recommend a US lab if you are in Europe or Australia for example.i'm located so...... - 2009-07-03
» Chinon 55mm f1.2
I've bought a Chinon 55mm f1.2 with the M42 screw mount and intend on using it on my 300D. I'd like to ask if anyone knows more about this lens, other similar lenses and how it compares. Any info is much appreciated. I read that its optically the same as the Revuenon of the same 55mm f1.2 spec. Is this true? Thanks ScottyLook like this? http://m42.povlab.org/lens_detail.php?lid=479 No personal experience but it should be fairly good, Chinon primes were usually ok and if its even remotely useable wide-open it's money well spent.Well I've read that its got a bit of a cult following now. I'll try it out and see if I like it, if not it will go back on ebay. I'm interested to find out if it's the same optics as the revuenon or possibly some ot...... - 2009-07-03
» Is neosporin ointment good for tattoos?
my fiancee just got a tattoo on friday. he would like to know if its ok to put neosporin ointment on it. its a first aid antibiotic ointment which would help cure it quicker. so is it? anything else he can put on it? When my brother got his tatt they told him to put neosporin on it and spf in the summer. No neosporin, or anything else that is petroleum based (like vaseline) all ointments do is stifle the tattoo (keeps air from getting to it). Like was already said, get him to use a fragrance free and aloe free lotion. Vaseline has a line like this as does Lubriderm and Moisturel. There are several store brands like Target and Wal Mart that also have fragrance and aloe free lines. As long as he washes it with an antibacterial soap...... - 2009-07-03
» How Do You Quench The Uncontrollable Fires Of The Credit Card Money Conflagration?
So, I've spent the whole year of 2008 up to now paying off debt and gaining control over finances, including finding ways to save money on all my bills, creating a reasonable budget for everything and everyone, coming up with creative methods that allow that budget to be followed through without too many people getting pissed off and gaining ways to monitor financial transactions close enough to accomplish everything. HOWEVER, there is one problem to date: the credit card. We only use one credit card and I've managed to keep it in check (the balance down to $0 every period end date) for the past couple of months, but it always seems like the most painful. It rises almost uncontrollably with multiples of small payments, which forc...... - 2009-07-03

» What material are turbochargers made of? How do you maintain turbochargers?
Keep good oil in the car, they use the engine oil to lubricate the bearings. Not sue what they are made of though, I have no idea. The intake side turbine can be aluminum, a steel alloy or ceramic. The exhaust turbine is a steel alloy or ceramic. The intake housing can be aluminum or a ferrous alloy. The exhaust housing is often cast iron. No maintenance, just make sure that it has plenty of oil.The outer housing is usually made of cast iron, while the turbine, compressor, and shaft are made of high quality steel. The best way to take care of the turbo is to let the engine idle for a minute or two before shutting down after a hard run. Don't overheat the turbo by running it for extended periods of time at high boost (watch the ...... - 2009-07-03
» How do I make my Ouija Board work?
Me and my friends are getting ready to play Ouija Board. What do we pray for? So like the spirits dont haunt me. First of all, set up the Ouija Board in a dark room with candles lit. This is from my personal experience, but don't use 6 candles. Every time I did that, something bad happened. Seven has been the luckiest number of candles for me. Anyways, the candles produce white light which is supposed to cleanse the area and rid it of evil entities. After that, you should have a Bible (if you are Christian. If not, a representative of your religion) and say a quick prayer of protection. The one that I have used quite a few times is: Lord, please protect us and be with us from evil entities and all dangers during our communication w...... - 2009-07-03
» Would the displacement be negative?
a rock is thrown horizontally out from the top of a 147m cliff. It hits the ground 80m from the base of the cliff. Would the Delta Y (displacement) be negative 147? Also will g= -9.8?It all depends on what direction you assume as positive to begin. If you assme that up is positive then Delta Y = -147m , but if you assume down to be positive then Delta Y = +147m. The same applies with gravity. Which ever direction you chose as positive though, it is important to keep in consistant through out. So if Delta Y = -147m ( Up is positive), then g= -9.8 If Delta Y = 147m (Down is positive), then g= +9.8...... - 2009-07-03

One of the family members from Ichikawa, a 5-year-old girl, was left unconscious in serious condition, while the other family members fell seriously ill after eating the dumplings, which were sold frozen through a consumer cooperative. My concern is my pricing - isn't everyone's? I based mine off a recent shoot I paid for so I could be in them for a change. For my area, this seems to be average pricing. Just curious for feedback on the site and pricing overall. I know I need more galleries - I have a few TFP shoots set up to update my portfolio. Thanks in advance! » DOES RELIEF EFFECT THE MIXEDWOOD PLAINS?
I need to know if RELIEF in LOWERN effects this ecozone. I haven't found any strong information to back up if it does or doesn't. Not Really except for the fact that with the Niagara Escarpment, relief would affect the amount and form of the precipitation but cause of the precipitation, no. Relief in LOWERN involves mountains acting as barriers to moist wind. The winds blowing over the mountains must ride so the clouds then form and it rains on the windward side of the mountains leaving the leeward side in the rain shadow area. There are no true mountain systems in the Mixed wood however there is the Niagara Escarpment. I know the escarpment will because of altitude cause the rain to come as snow and I would think that it woul...... - 2009-07-03

» Is anyone else disappointed in the lack of action in the transfer market?
I expected Reading to make a strong push during the January transfer window and that has not happened. We've been linked over and over with folks but other than Bennett (which I consider a gamble), we've not connected on anything that says "wow". Granted, Reading is a team with limited resources at the present but we had $5M in transfer money left over from the summer and with relegation a very small possibility at this point, you would think we would make an investment to bring in a Premiership quality player to bolster either the backline or midfield. Given that Sidwell has still NOT signed a new contract despite the success in the EPL, I would have thought that we would have went after a potential replacement or at least someone that w...... - 2009-07-03

» Lexus IS 250 Sport Tire Pressure Check?
I've had my IS250 sport for about 2months now and i'm curious on when I should start checking to put more air in it? Also does anyone know the correct PSI? Thanks, I had owned an IS 350 and I just used the manufactures tire pressure recommendations. If you had your car a couple of months, you should have had a 1000 mile check that Lexus always does. If you bought this used, you need to get it checked every month. However, keep in mind that with the colder weather coming, the tire pressure will drop a few PSIs. This is normal and happens in the opposite during hot weather. Get yourself a good tire pressure gauge and check it at least once a month. Major changes in tire pressure will affect the safety of your car. Pleas...... - 2009-07-03

What do you think about this picture? http://img396.imageshack.us/my.php?image...Keep practicing. I didnt vote and think its unrateable as all fine art should be. Not too keen on this. There's a decent idea there, but it hasn't been well executed. Problems: The foliage at the bottom doesn't add to the composition. there is far too much black space at the base of the shot.. The wire doesn't hold the middle of the picture together. Now if that had been a washing line, with assorted shirts, sheets, etc. blowing in the wind, and you'd toned down the effect of the plant....... So, if my sql database is small enough that I'm not running into time-outs, is the built-in backup method (with all options checked) in the admin control panel fully reliable and completely safe? Thanks in advance for replying...I'm asking because of a permissions problem not allowing me to use telnet to backup my DB. We are engaged in a terribly intense debate. Which animal is generally more intellegent? A cat or a dog? I've become hooked on Sunahara's music through an online station that plays chillout/downtempo stuff. But his last album was in 2001, and his official website doesn't look like it's been updated since then. It's been bugging me for awhile to know what he's been doing since then. I assume it's been a combination of producing other artists and playing club gigs, but has anyone heard any news about him in the past five years?I've become hooked on Sunahara's music through an online station that plays chillout/downtempo stuff. I would like some comments and some citicism on these photos. And also some more ideas of what to shoot. I tend to like shooting macro but find myself shooting the same things and just want a few ideas to spice up my portfolio. Your comments would be appreciated... http://flickr.com/photos/lukemccarthy19 They're very good! You have a great eye for composition. The only suggestion I can offer is you might want to try using a fill light on some of your outdoor photos (or try using a flash) to brighten up the shadowed side of your subjects. "Louie Down On the Beach" could have used a little reflected light on his shadowed side, and "Daydreaming"'s face wouldn't be so flat and gray if you had used a fill light to brighten ...... - 2009-07-03
» Can a MySQL DB completely run in memory?
My DB is now getting up to 2.2 gig and and the latest site upgrade has significantly increased usage once again. I'm looking at buying 2 servers and splitting up DB/Web functionalities. One thing I would like to know is whether it's possible to completely run all a DB's tables in ram and then maybe dump the data onto disk every hour or so. Assuming there is any performance benefit to such a setup. ThanksI doubt you'll be able to do that, plus it's pretty risky, as everything would be lost if there is a power cycle and the dump to disk hasn't been performed. A good quad core with several GB of RAM and some 15K RPM SCSI drives in RAID-10 or RAID-5, depending on your needs should suite you quite well for the db server.Thank you, I'm also tr...... - 2009-07-03

I may be asking this in the wrong place so I apologise in advance. I shot some footage with my Panasonic FZ7 and its in quicktime. From memory, its about 1mb every second or film. I want to convert this. I have about a minute of footage and I have downloaded avi's and Mpegs in the past from the internet that were about 1mb/minute. What is the best software for this for a lossless conversion to avi (preferably). CheersYou are taking about compression, so lossless is not in the equation. Lots of folks use cinepak, but personally I use Motion JPG B, and crank it down in quality just before I start to see it fall apart, or for shorter clips keep it a bit fat. Then there is DIVX, Flash, etc... Compression is quite a science so you will lik...... - 2009-07-03

Where do you get your clientel from? did you start out with a studio, or in your home?To start out, take pics of your kids and family, and display them proudly! When people came into my home to visit or chat, they'd ask who did your children's pictures. When I responded that I did, one thing led to another. If you do a good job, everything else will fall into place. Granted, this also depends on if you're looking into doing this as a full time job or not. There are certian features I need for what I am looking for, and I can't tell if vB has them. I can pay for project tools if necessary, but I need these features. Forums where people are let in on an individual basis by a forum moderator. People will be appointed a leader of a specific forum, and members of the site can be allowed into the forum by these forum moderators. The forum moderators also can moderate their forum, but no other forum. Outside of that specific forum, they don't really have authority to do anything. I need currencies of some kind. Just curious what the advantage of vB is to either of the aforementioned boards? SWe really don't like to answer these questions because it all comes down to opinion. Each of the mentioned packages are good enough for basic forum functions and each have their strongpoints. My suggestion to you is to decide what you need and look around and see what fits that need. Check out what your favorite sites use for forums and how well it works for them. Also look at Webmaster Resource related sites and see what people really say about the different forum packages.BBAdmins (http://www.bbadmins.com/) would be a good place to ask, too. I keep thinking about the D300 and I’ve got to stay with Nikon for that gem but just can’t help but notice more Canon cameras in the world. The other thing that is pulling me to Canon is there is a local photography store that rents Canon cameras and lenes. I plan to eventually get into weddings so I am thinking having the benefits to rent Canon stuff could really help when I make that step. » How safe is ibuprofen on a daily basis?
What is the real risk of taking 400mg of ibuprofen daily for 3 years? I know there are kidney risks with high dosages, and very long term, but what about 3 years at this low a dose? It's probably a lot safer than taking 800mg doses 3x/day (max) since you are giving body time to clear out the drug through normal metabolism. However, even at that dose, you are increasing chances of developing ulcers, which are more common than kidney failures. One precaution you must take is to never take the drug when the body is dehydrated--i.e., after long periods of exercise or drinking alcohol. TV advertisements of people taking Advil or Alleve after playing sports for sore joints and muscles are dangerous for this reason. There is an added benef...... - 2009-07-03

Will styrofoam experience a strong upward lift force if there are no water molecules underneath it? a styrofoam rectangular block. submerged underwater. hypotheticaly - there is no water trapped under the block, but all other surfaces are in direct contact with water. will the styrofoam block experience upward buoyancy force based on other reasons (material density..e.t.c.)By virtue of density alone, the styrofoam block would rise to the surface. You have to understand that even with a "still" container of water, the molecules are always moving (Brownian Motion). Hence, there will be micro currents.

Let me preface this by saying that this is my first try at pixel art, so be gentle ;) Is everything here kosher, as far as the fog goes? http://mdn.mainichi.jp/national/news/20080130p2a00m0na019000c.html Five family members in Ichikawa, Chiba, were taken to hospital suffering from vomiting and diarrhea after they ate the dumplings, while another two women from Chiba and three family members from Takasago, Hyogo Prefecture, also reportedly ate the dumplings. One of the family members from Ichikawa, a 5-year-old girl, was left unconscious in serious condition, while the other family members fell seriously ill after eating the dumplings, which were sold frozen through a consumer cooperative. A survey by the Ichikawa public health center detected the insecticide methamidophos in the dumplings in levels that far exceeded normal standards. » New Business - New Website | Feedback Please
Hi All~ I'm new here and have finally taken the steps to turn "Pro" (make $ that is). I have good equipment, a website (http://mikejeffcoatphotography.com/), business cards (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3209/2776011824_3a1ec74a02_m.jpg) and time.

I have often been called a chauvinist which i can understand as i am a big strong intelligent man and women just cannot compare. Nor can men as i am just too brilliant, myself. But Why have i so often been called a misogynist by women and particulerly the women who are the people i love the most??? Should i be really offended by this??? Are they seriously implying that i treat them like i hate them??? SOOO------ DO YOU THINK that the term is used too much + too lightly, or am i just an evil misogynist?

What can the German team realistically be strong at doing during Euro 2008? With Klose and Podolski (Poldi with experience gathered intime for 2008) our finishing will be good, our skill level should increase with the likes of Trochowski and Boeteng.

In the panic room, Kristen Stewart looks like a little boy- lol. Through the whole movie I thought she was until someone called her a girl. Isn't that weird?Yea your right panic room she looked like a dude Zathura she was kinda pretty In jumper she look really good In twilight she look sexy in a way so.......... i guess she looks better over time or panic rooms makeup artist was on dope. just saying She's a little boyish. » If timeouts are not a prob due to small DB, is admin panel backup fully reliable?
So, if my sql database is small enough that I'm not running into time-outs, is the built-in backup method (with all options checked) in the admin control panel fully reliable and completely safe? If so, does that mean that if someday I need to restore the DB, I could telnet SSH in at that time and restore with a mysqldump using the .sql file created by the admin panel without any trouble at all? Thanks in advance for replying...I'm asking because of a permissions problem not allowing me to use telnet to backup my DB.

What is the best software for this for a lossless conversion to avi (preferably). CheersYou are taking about compression, so lossless is not in the equation.
What do you guys think about this concept? What is propress? I would assume it has to do with joining copper pipes. How does it work? and why is it any better than soldering? I haven't heard about propress yet. Kirkquote:Originally posted by Kirk54: What is propress? I would assume it has to do with joining copper pipes. How does it work? and why is it any better than soldering? I haven't heard about propress yet. Hi Kirk, Basically, ProPress is a mechanical system of joining copper pipe. The system can work with 1/2inch pipe up through 2 inc...... - 2009-07-03

» Basic difference b/w Nokia 6670 & 7610
Can somebody tell me what's the difference b/w a Nokia 6670 & 7610 apart from the price and look. I can't see any other difference, but it is a bit marginally expensive for just a skin change. Enlighten somebody???6670 has a pdf file readerNokia 6670 (http://nokia.co.in/nokia/0,,67169,00.html) Nokia 7610 (http://nokia.co.in/nokia/0,,59831,00.html)A Dude Told me that the operating systems in both the phones were different !! If not then maybe that due to the looks of 7610 its targeted for the youngsters while the 6670 is targetted for the more "classy stuff" wanted people . I found 6670 better as the key layout of 7610 is somewhat wierd to my taste !As far as i know there is not much of a difference in both the phone. The basic diffe...... - 2009-07-03
» Does Miley Cyrus really let people take pics of her in the shower?
i mean i seen some on youtube, but really?i hate miley cyrus, but its just so low of her. http://mamalate.com/2008/12/04/miley-cyr...She was probably trying to have fun. But she shouldn't be posting them on the internet. It's pretty irresponsible of her. No body wants to see her in the shower with her clothes on. Let alone her bra & underwear.Probably she is such an annoying poser I cant believe I used to love her. And have you seen her perform live lets just say eww. and she has taken other inappropriate pics why wouldn't she get worse.LOL! She takes pictures of herself!? She probably does, because she's a slut.i sincerely understand how u feel i did have to chuck and vomit seeing those picture i think she just wa...... - 2009-07-03
» Do people need social to travel in the US?
okay this is the thing my friend lives in FL and i live in MA and i want her to visit me but she doesn't have a social does she needs it to travel only in the US? like her passport is good so i want to know is it really necessary ?No you don't need a social security card to travel. She will be just fine with a passport for any traveling she needs to do outside the U.S. When you travel inside the U.S. all you need is a picture ID. A drivers license or ID card from the state you live in and it needs to be currant. I believe that if you go to Alaska or Hawaii you will need your passport or anytime you leave the U.S. Your social security card is mainly used to get a job in the U.S. and get documents like your passport or a birth ...... - 2009-07-03
» How many times a day should you feed your cat?
I usually just fill up a cat bowel and leave it out all day, is this the correct way?? I heard somewhere that you should only feed your cat once a day?? any adviceWe usually have dry cat food sitting out all day. once in a while well give them wet food like fancy feast as a treat. My cats never had a problem with getting over weight or getting sick from leaving the food out the whole day You can leave a cat's daily requirement out a bowl for the day but if it finishes the food do not give it more until the next day. We leave our cat's food out all day because we never know when she will come home to eat it. The same food sometimes sits in her bowl for three days at a time. Usually she just snacks on a mouse while she's out...... - 2009-07-03
» Will styrofoam experience a strong upward lift force if there are no water molecules underneath it?
Will styrofoam experience a strong upward lift force if there are no water molecules underneath it? a styrofoam rectangular block. submerged underwater. hypotheticaly - there is no water trapped under the block, but all other surfaces are in direct contact with water. will the styrofoam block experience upward buoyancy force based on other reasons (material density..e.t.c.)By virtue of density alone, the styrofoam block would rise to the surface. You have to understand that even with a "still" container of water, the molecules are always moving (Brownian Motion). Hence, there will be micro currents. Even if one were able to fully submerge a Styrofoam block such that it laid flush with the bottom of the container, currents would push the "no...... - 2009-07-03
» Otsukaresamadesu
People in the elevator at my apartment say otsukaresamadesu sometimes when they get out. Presumably they see I'm coming home from work. What is the normal reply? To shitsureishimasu it is to repeat, even if they get out first. otsukaresamadesu has me stumped, though."arigatou gozaimasu" should be fine.Never thought of that. Many thanks.Or, you can reply "otsukaresama desu" especially when they seem to come home from work as well. It's a convenient greeting at work that could have many meanings like "sayounara," "okaerinasai" etc.Or, you can reply "otsukaresama desu" especially when they seem to come home from work as well. » Random vbulletin questions
Can you set the miximum number of posts per day for regular users? (5 max, etc...) Is there anyway you can identify multiple users under the same ip address?1. No, sorry. This is not a feature in vB. 2. There is an IP search function in the Admin CP.1. No, sorry. This is not a feature in vB. 2. There is an IP search function in the Admin CP. Really? well isn't there like a module for that function or something? Because this board (http://www.webhostingtalk.com) allowes users to post 1 thread per week. How is that possible?A lot of things are possible with hacks (code modifications.) There is probably a hack for this one over at vbulletin.org....... - 2009-07-03
