  • Am I be able to convert fully?

  • Am I be able to convert fully my current board runing under Invision2.0.3 to the VB? I have read here some posts about the converters butthere is information also that everything is converted from Invision 2to VB properly beside the passwords :/

Could you answer me how it is?
I am considering to buy the license and start using VB3 but only ifthere will be a chance to move all the data from my old one and as forall I mean 100% every forum, subforum, topic, post, user with hispassword etc.
Well.. if the avatars and things like that would be lost I would manage such loos.

    Btw.
How much load can the VB3 generate for the server when on the board would be constantly about 100+ users?

Thank you in adavnce for answer and sorry for my english :)

  • Since the support here is so good and there will be no problem withconverting from Invision 2 I can say that VB Team got a new client :) Ifill in the order already and waiting now for the contact.

  • Unfortunately due to the visible source nature of PHP (the programming language vBulletin is written in), sending out trial copies is not a feasible option, as any limitations we put in could be very easily circumvented.

We do have a live demo of vB3, including full access to the admin control panel. You can set one up for your own use from this page:

    http://www.vbulletin.com/admindemo.php

You can also download a test script to run on your server to see if it's compatible with vBulletin 3. You can get this script here:

For the leased license, you will either need to renew this license when it expires, or remove the software. You would not be able to continue running it legally without renewing.

  • Could you be more specific about the password issue?
So before the user will reset the password what information will he getwhen trying to login? And what`s more important.. is it safe? Iwouldn`t like anyone to hack into some user account.

  • We converted From IPB 2 to vB without any problems, was a great andnice move, and now more than happy with vB in every way :) Your lovethe support and you come back for the community :)

  • The password reset process is a few steps.
a user enters their email to have their password reset

a confirmation email is sent, when they complete this their password becomes a randomly generated string of numbers and is sent to them via email

then they use the new temporary password to login and change the old password

  • You should be able to convert most of the data, however passwords will not come over, the user will need to reset their password after the import but it is a painless process.

This is the status of the IPB 2.0.X Importer (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showpost.php?p=734749&postcount=22)

The load would be purely depdant on options enabled and configuration of the servers software as well as vBulletins config.

  • Thanks. :)

yep, i also converted from invision and can say that no one of my users had problems. :)

  • Please start a new thread in the Import forum with all the relevant details. Thanks.

P.S. You need to run Impex from within the Admin CP. You do not run it directly.

  • I converted a pre-release v2 ipb without much tourble to.

  • 1. You can upgrade from a leased to an owned license for an additional $85 if you do so within 30 days of the purchase. After 30 days, it is full price.

    2. Yes, the forums and subforums should import.

    3. There is no Polish language pack at this time but with vB's Language Manager it's easy to create one:

  • Thank you for fast answers. I really like that I can get help here very fast and answers are clear.

As I now checked the Invision 2 is one of the worst boardifsomebodywants to imigrate onto another :/ There are almostnoconverters besidethe one you told me.. no converter to phpbb oranyother popular board. But I see that here support will be great :)

Can you tell me is there any trial version or something on whichIcouldtry the conversion and see how it will work after thisoperation?Thereason is that this 85$ per year or over 160$ per life isprettymuchfor me and if I decide to buy this script I would like to besureitwill work properly.

Oh.. and one more thing. If I would choose the one yearvariant..whatwould happen after this year if I would like to continueusingthescript but for example don`t have the ammount of 85$ to pay forit?DoI have to take the forum offline or I would be a pirate orwouldthecreators of the script would wait some time for me to gatherthemoney?

Its safe cause it is email verified :)

Its possible to retain passwords with modification to the source code, but that could break vB upgrades down the road

  • I understand. Thank you for the link

As for paying I didn`t mean just to stop paying but if I would pay withsome delay if that would be problem or not? And one more question.. IfI would like for ex. after the first year for 85$ get the life licensewould I have to pay for it the whole price as a new member or wouldthere be some lower price for your customer?

    As for converting:
Does the subforums and their subforums are converted properly also?Asfar as I know VB can have subforums too but I think it not do anyharm to ask.

And does the VB have localisation to Polish language? I even don`t need the admin panel in Polish but from the user side.

  • Hi
    I can`t login into impex script :/
It just keeping redirect me after login into first screen. Of course Ihave uploaded the impex folder into the dir where are other files andfolders from vb3
