How can i improve the sound of my electric guitar besides new pickups or new strings or a new amp?
All the pedals, sound boards, tube amps, heads, the best Duncan pups will not make up for bad technique.
Bring the guitar to a tech for the best set up possible after installing the new pups.
since you are trying to hook up your guitar and not playing or fx.
lets see
-locking tuners are and awesome investment, both gotoh and schaller make them and they make restringing and staying in tune a breeze compared to lesser tuners.
-a graphite nut would bring out more tone, sustain, and character if that's what you are looking for, also a great investment they cost around $30-$40 plus maybe $20 for install.
-a tonepros bridge is also a great investment if you play a guitar with a non tremelo bridge, it improves all the above but can cost around $100.
-if you want to juice up your guitar a bit while you are putting in the new electronics then a vari-pot from griblin engineering would be sweet and definately different from the crowd, they make little switches that essentially sit below your controls and can add gain, volume, or even do wah effects.
-crowning your frets will make the guitar easier to play and help in overall intonation, my guy charges $30
-there are a lot more mods, but for just juicing up an oldy with some new spunk those should just do fine.
hope this helps.
