NFL Draft Thread [R]
My Top 5
1. Oakland - Jamarcus Russell, QB, Louisiana State
2. Atlanta (from Detroit) - Calvin Johnson, WR, Georgia Tech
3. My Brownies - Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame
4. Tampa - Joe Thomas, OT, Wisconsin
5. Arizona - Adrien Peterson, RB, Oklahoma
Personally, I don't like the Browns taking Quinn. I think that he's peaked. I hope to God that I'm wrong. I think that they should take Peterson or Thomas before they take Quinn. Oh well, we'll see what happens.
i am thinking he wants ted ginn jr.
I thought so, but it is strange that they are not showing anything about it at all right now (11:30) if it was on, so I wasn't sure.
edit:
********ing shit, my time is all messed up it is NOT Saturday!
I love the NFL Draft, it's probably my favorite NFL-related day of the year, even moreso than the Super Bowl (unless the Chargers or Bucs are in the SuperBowl). This draft is probably the least predictable one in a long, long time.

No reason for the Cards to take Peterson after picking up Edge last year. He busted simply because their line is TERRIBLE and it will continue to be TERRIBLE with Peterson unless they invest in their o-line. Peterson might be a good pick for the browns but his injury history has got to be scary with a pick that high.
I also think Tampa will find a way to pick Johnson, they seem to be all over the kid.

Calvin Johnson?
FYP....
Yeah, that's what NFL fantasy football leagues are for. I love it, it's great, and gives you a reason to follow certain teams/players all season.
In a case of draft - 80% of rookies drafted won't be major contributors, QB will sit the first year on the bench almost for certain, and you won't really know about the value you got with the pick for at least 2-3 years.
Plus, maybe you care about your favorite team and a few other picks. Fine. But come on, spending the entire weekend in front of TV listening to Steve Berman and Me Kiper discussing 5th round "steals" gets annoying really fast.
But you have to understand the allure of the Draft also. No one thinks they can go out and do what, say, Peyton Manning does on a weekly basis. But everyone thinks they can do Bill Polian's GM job. So for armchair GM's everywhere, like myself, the Draft is an opportunity to indulge yourself in fantasizing about how you would be able to construct your team, and also, when the picks are made, debating the impact those picks will have on your team.
i dont think we have the ability to get that high, and jones won't use next year's picks to get in that sorta bracket.
think 12-15.
i've never heard him talk like this before, like he is going to go for broke.

I agree mostly, but Atlanta, with two 2s and two 3s have the most bargaining power and I think that Detroit can't get out of that 2 spot fast enough.
Peterson will be a waste to whoever buys him, the only reason he goes now is because he knows his stock will fall very far when he gets injuried next season in the college.. and the next.. and the next in the pros.. and so forth until he goes to NFL Europe or CFL.
Also, this year's is unpredictable because there aren't any good players :)
saturday at noon on all 417 channels that espn owns now.
Future underhyped Mario Williams.

Except Chris Berman and Mel Kiper are usually long gone by the 5th round. :p Usually Suzy Kolber and some group of schmoes takes over on day two.
