Since Obama is black should he be held to a higher standard or if he's white a lesser standard?
And, he'll be under more scrutiny too.
Minorities and women usually are in corporate settings.
This will be no different.
I think the American people will measure Obama purely on effectiveness. How will he further shape the federal response to the credit crisis and its underpinnings? Does he understand how to get the real economy headed in the right direction and will he take the steps necessary to point us in that direction. Will he handle the situation in Iraq appropriately and help forge a power-sharing and revenue-sharing agreement that will permit us to reduce our combat troops for deployment home or to Afghanistan? Will he take steps to ensure some continuity in educational loans to students who are in or entering college or continuing on to post-graduate studies?
The American people expect quite a bit from Senator Obama. They are starved for real leadership from the White House, or at least I am.
I don't understand your remark about his father. According to an account I read, it seems clear that Senator Obama's father was a scholar who might have enjoyed a very successful political career if Kenyan politics were not so very corrupt and unstable back then.
That may not happen, but you asked what should happen.
It wouldn't be good for ANY president of ANY race or gender to get the job and uck it up for everybody.
