I have often been called a chauvinist which i can understand as i am a big strong intelligent man and women just cannot compare. Nor can men as i am just too brilliant, myself.
But Why have i so often been called a misogynist by women and particulerly the women who are the people i love the most???
Should i be really offended by this??? Are they seriously implying that i treat them like i hate them???
SOOO------ DO YOU THINK that the term is used too much + too lightly,
or am i just an evil misogynist?
And as for chauvinist, can they really say i treat them as inferior when i hold doors open for them and always put their comfort + safety above mine.
I think it is used too often and too lightly, yeah. It seems to me like it's a technique used to shame those who have "wrong" views, much like calling people who disagree with abortion "anti-choice", or calling people who are morally opposed to homosexuality "homophobic". Any time a man says anything negative about women or feminism he gets slapped with the label "misogynist" in an effort to make him feel guilty or ashamed and to shut him up.
I think you get the label because of the way you an come across sometimes. I suspect you are mostly joking -like your first paragraph - but there are others who obviously don't find you very funny. Maybe you should reevaluate the things you say and make sure you aren't really being nasty? Riiiight ... you're quibbling about definitions.

What you describe is a ditto of many men including me who are acting NORMAL, holding their head high.. misogynist is just another li'l word broads found to play with & exploit like they did 'chauvinist' in the 70's.. It's misused to label any man who carries himself with the masculine edge, as we do ; or any man who isn't a wuss.. Don't fall for another one of their childish games jack.. Don't act confused by this crap ; pull yourself together & be confident in yourself..... I maintain as the song says ; it's hard to be humble when you're perfect in every way !.. Sometimes when you don't let her pay the bill or something it comes off as offensive, like she can't pay it herself.
It depends on the woman... just like many situations.
